The Signature Chess Set
A case that closes,
a game that stays out
Most chess sets pose one simple problem: what to do with the pieces between games. You put them in a box, you lose them, and eventually you stop taking the set out at all. The Signature Chess Set answers differently. The board folds onto itself and becomes its own case: all thirty two pieces sit inside, held in place, silent.
Closed, it is an object you leave on a console table. Open, it is a game ready in ten seconds. That is the whole difference between a chess set you put away and one you actually play.
The design
Three things that change everything
Storage built in
The pieces sit within the depth of the board, each in its own place. Nothing rolls, nothing rattles in transit. You close it, you lift it, you take it with you. The game you interrupted picks up exactly where it stopped.
Pieces that hold
A chess piece should be placed, not set down. Ours have the density to stay where you put them, and a felted base that keeps the move quiet. The hand notices the difference from the very first move.
An object you leave out
Five finishes made for a living room, not a cupboard: Carbon Onyx, Deep Amber, Emerald, Pure Ivory, Royal Blue. The board becomes part of the room, and the more visible it stays, the more often it gets played.
The making
Handmade,
in our workshops
Every chess set passes through several pairs of hands before it carries our name.
The case is built layer by layer, its internal compartments calculated to the millimetre for all thirty two pieces.
Squares are laid one by one and aligned by hand. The evenness of the board is the first thing the eye picks up.
Each piece is turned, sanded, coloured, then fitted with its felted base. King and pawn receive the same care.
Closure, alignment, the fit of each piece in its compartment. Nothing leaves without having been opened and closed again.

Care
A game that outlives
its owner
- Dust the board with a soft, dry cloth.
- Return the pieces to their compartments after each game, never loose.
- Close the case to protect the board from dust and light.
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure, which softens the contrast of the squares.
- Do not clean with water or any solvent based product.
- Check the felted bases of the pieces from time to time.
Frequently asked
Worth knowing
Do the pieces really store inside the board?
Yes, all thirty two pieces sit inside the case, each in its own compartment. That is the whole principle of the Signature Chess Set: no separate box, no pouch. You close it, and everything is there.
Can I carry it with the pieces inside?
That is what it is made for. The pieces are held in their compartments and do not shift. The set slips into a travel bag or cabin case with no special precaution.
Which finish should I choose?
Carbon Onyx and Royal Blue are the most graphic, Deep Amber and Pure Ivory the warmest, Emerald the most singular. All share the same construction: the choice is purely a matter of interior.
Can I have it personalised?
Yes. Initials can be applied to the case in blind embossing or gold foil. Personalisation is chosen at the time of order.
Does it make a good gift?
It is one of the most gifted pieces in the house, particularly when the occasion calls for something that lasts: a birthday, a farewell, a corporate thank you. Every order arrives in its presentation box.
